Take Time to Explore

North Norfolk is well known for its vast sandy beaches and endless blue skies – if you want to walk for miles, you can. Perhaps your ideal day would be spent visiting one of our neighbouring seaside villages: Blakeney is an ideal place to start, with its pretty flint cottages, boat trips and national nature reserve.

Maybe you’d prefer to get off the beaten track and cycle along the coastal path to do a spot of birdwatching. Stroll around a nearby market town, find a lovely place for lunch, pop into a gift shop or browse for antiques. Play a round of golf and marvel at the stunning sea view. Take in a museum to discover more of Norfolk’s rich history.

Or it could be that you’d just like to spend a blissful afternoon at a waterside pub, doing nothing more than watch the tide come in. Here in North Norfolk, there’s something for everyone. And with a permanent base in the area, you’ll be able to explore to your heart’s content. Here are a few of our highlights:

Seal Trips

Take a short boat trip to watch the Common and Grey seal colonies at Blakeney Point, and enjoy the Norfolk coastline along the way. It’s a great opportunity to see the seals up close and take a few photos without disturbing them.

Our favourite boatman is Beans Boats, who run trips all year round. They have a real, in-depth knowledge of the area’s history and the individual seal families.

Cromer

The sandy beaches and iconic Cromer Pier & Theatre are only a 5-minute drive away. Of course, a trip to Cromer wouldn’t be complete without sampling the world-famous crab.

We highly recommend Davies’ Fish Shop, located in the centre of town.

Deep History Coast

When you go for a walk on the beach, keep an eye out for fossils…

Stretching from Weybourne to Cart Gap, Norfolk’s curved coastline is

steeped in ancient history and uncovered stories of the past – and it’s open for everyone to unearth thanks to the Deep History Coast project and its initiatives.

National Trust

Local National Trust properties include Sheringham Park with its stunning sea views, Blakeney National Nature Reserve and Blickling Estate, the birthplace of Anne Boleyn.

Norwich

With a great range of high street and independent shops, Norwich is regularly voted into the top 20 best shopping cities in the UK. When you need a break from retail therapy, the city centre has many fantastic bars and restaurants.

For a more cultural day out, there are several museums and art galleries to explore including the Castle Museum which regularly hosts exhibits and collections from all over the world.

Golf

North Norfolk is renowned for having some of the country’s finest golf courses; Royal Cromer, Sheringham and Hunstanton come highly recommended and have magnificent coastal views.
