North Norfolk’s Deep History Coast is the curved stretch of coastline between Weybourne and Cart Gap and it’s truly steeped in fascinating finds. Some of the earliest evidence of UK tourism was uncovered here by footsteps left nearly one million years ago – now that’s history!

Norfolk is the only county where evidence of four species of human have been found, is home to the best-preserved Neanderthal site in the country, and the most important archaeological site in Western Europe.

Visit North Norfolk are giving you the chance to put on your walking boots and pick up your archaeological spade (!) and explore this area of incredible history for yourself.  Beachcombing on Norfolk’s ever-changing Deep History Coast may even win you a fossil – over 20,000 fossils are found a year – while you walk 16 miles from West Runton to Happisburgh.
