Seal Watching

Seal watching is ideal in the autumn, winter and summer months, with the Common seals having their young between June and August and the Grey seals between November and January. All members of the family can enjoy a boat trip from Blakeney Point where there is a colony of over 500 Common and Grey seals, as well as a variety of bird life. Alternatively a visit to Horsey Beach, which is an unspoiled sandy beach that offers a relaxing day out with hundreds of Grey seals breeding there for you to admire.

Boating

Whether it is sailing, canoeing, kayaking or cruising the Norfolk Broads and Norfolk coastline this is an idyllic destination for boat enthusiasts. You can hire kayaks, canoes, day boats or cruisers perfect for enjoying the tranquillity of the Norfolk Broads. Sailing and water sports are also popular on the East Coast, from Brancaster or Wells you can explore the harbours, creeks and marshes.

Golf

Golf in Norfolk offers the perfect escape from the stress of everyday life, and the opportunity to enjoy some of the stunning scenery that this region has to offer. Norfolk is a perfect destination if you enjoy history, culture and the outdoors, there is a vast choice of parks, gardens and estates to explore all year round. Sheringham Park offers 1000 acres of woodland, parkland and clifftops. Hoveton Hall, Holkham Hall, Sandringham Estate, and Holt Country Park are just some of the places that provide a chance for days out discovering and exploring the wildlife and history of Norfolk.

Walking and Cycling

North Norfolk has a variety of trails, ways and routes for the whole family to enjoy, walking is easy with miles of beaches and clifftops to explore at your own leisure. As well as woodlands, heritage sites, circular walks and the popular Weavers Way and Angles Way.

For children and young families there is the Peddars Way or Bacton Woods to discover, quiet off-road tracks which can take you for miles through woodlands and countryside.

While North Norfolk does not provide awe inspiring big waves, the region has become a popular surf spot, with a surf school in Cromer, just 10 minutes along the coast it is easy give it a go, with manageable waves and a mild climate it the perfect beach for surfing. However you are also likely to see experienced surfers, from Gorleston to East Runton the whole of the coastline provides a community of friendly, knowledgeable surfers who have expertise of the swells and tides they are happy to share.

Wildlife

Norfolk Wildlife Trust has ambitions to recover Norfolk’s nature, from Breckland heaths, Claylands, and woodlands, there are vast amounts of wildlife to enjoy and discover in Norfolk. Woods are rich in plant life, also a large number of birds, and mammals, some of which can be found at Woodland Holiday Park. Our coastline has a number of areas perfect for keen birdwatchers, there are Common and Grey seals. Then there are our wildlife parks and nature reserves, including Thrigby Hall and Pensthorpe. This diversity provides a perfect day out for all interests and all ages.
